Hi all, Tatenda Mikey here.

My full name is Tatenda Michael Manyarara and I am a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Hastings, United Kingdom.

Born in Zimbabwe and shaped by my journey to the UK, my practice has evolved from a foundation in portraiture into a deeper exploration of identity, faith, culture, and the spaces in between. After graduating from the University of Westminster with a Bachelor’s Honours Degree in Mixed Media Fine Art, my work now reflects not only where I come from, but what I continue to question, unlearn, and understand.

Working across digital and traditional illustration, painting, graphic design, and photography, I create pieces that feel both personal and reflective of a wider human experience. Recent works, such as my explorations of faith(s) and intimate, symbolic scenes like shared meals, begin to unpack the tension between belief and doubt, tradition and individuality, discipline and freedom. Rather than offering fixed answers, my work invites conversation, creating space for viewers to reflect on their own journeys, regardless of background or belief.

Alongside collaborations with musicians and creatives, and past features including Channel 4’s Random Acts, my current focus is on building a body of work that is honest, evolving, and rooted in both vulnerability and intention.

More than a pursuit of craft, my work is a commitment to growth artistically, spiritually, and personally.

One sketch, one question, one day at a time.
