This was a project in honor of the late actor Chadwick Boseman who through his movies like Black Panther, 42, and 21 Bridges inspired me and many others to be more who we are, to honor our heritage, and strive to test our limits. From digital painting to pencil portrait, I wanted to showcase the variety of what he meant to both the young as well as well as his stance in the film industry.

To heighten the role he played in Black Panther, I added the panthers to not only serve as extras to Chadwick but also how in the film they embodied the ancestors that came before. With the addition of the celestial and northern lights, it adds on to the philosophy of how space is seen as the place were those that have passed on join the stars or better yet, the heavens.
From playing James Brown to Jackie Robinson, I drew some of his most iconic roles that made him both versatile in his craft and the role he was playing. Though it was in pencil, it helped embody and hone the features and better highlight the tones each role he played.
The film inspired an array of people but most importantly, black children from all different background. From that, I chose to add children with different shades of melanin from Nubian, dark/light skin to the albino and those with vitiligo showing that they are all royal regardless of history or society may perceive them.
